Thunder roared, violently shaking the water from the clouds. She laid there, with wet cheeks, certain the night would last until her world came to an end. Tossing and turning, she ached for rest, an impossibility as the memories ran from one side of her mind to another.
After a brutal dual with time, she dozed off, only to wake up and find her face being caressed by a single ray of sunshine.
“It’s over, finally,” she thought. Her heart was still, her eyes open and clear.
Eventually, to her surprise and delight, she even began to dream again.
