Things We All Need To Know

That thing you swear you cannot do is the one thing you can–and must–do first.

Allowing someone to play with your emotions is allowing them to devalue your soul. Rejection, insecurity, inconsistency, and lack of quality communication are not “loving” or respectful. When you accept this, you reinforce the idea that you’re not worth better treatment. I’m here to tell you that you are.

Most of what we lack is just confidence. It’s not all that hard. Pick yourself up, polish your sharp edges and walk into your future ready to shine.

Karl Lagerfeld recently said the most important thing in fashion was to “Be Impeccable”. He was talking about dress but it struck a chord with me. If we’re going to do something, let us do it well and as clean and attractive as possible. Get to work on time and put in a full day. Go to a nice dinner with a friend and give them your full attention. Romance the one you love with great enthusiasm.

There are clues in the things we say. I recently met a woman who said she liked “bad boys” and asked her to think about her word choice. You wouldn’t purchase a “bad” car or want a “bad” organ transplanted into your body. Why would you laugh about wanting to be with a bad human being? They do just as much damage, if not more.

Giving up something you love for something you like is a risky bet.

You can have the life you dream about but first you have to have a clear understanding of what that life actually looks like.

Good people who will treat you well and do the right thing by you are worth their weight in gold. Don’t devalue kindness or brush someone off for being “too nice”. What you’re saying is “be meaner and treat me worse and I’ll stay”. You’re more intelligent than that.

If you love someone who doesn’t love you or loves their freedom more than you, go on and love them–from afar. Waiting around while they play around is disrespectful to yourself. You’re not an option, you’re a treasure. Put yourself out there so the person searching for you can find you and treat you like gold.

Sometimes you’ll say things you mean in a way you wish you didn’t. They will as well. If you really care about one another, you’ll sit down and talk it through.

The best version of you is in there and aching to be let out.
