10 Things I Learned In The Hospital Bed

It’s the people you can call from the ER that count. If there’s a moment when dropping things and being there for someone matters, it’s then. You learn very quickly who is really on your side and who is there when it’s convenient.

A hospital gown cinched with a skinny belt and accessorized with heels and a little lipstick makes cat scan walks more bearable (and fashionable).

ER staff work their booties off and it’s a thankless job. Thank you, NYU Med Center Staff for being so awesome (and the iPhone charging and magazine runs!)

Even if you’re sick, you still need to get your stuff-n-stuff done. Thank you, Mr. Jobs.

Sometimes, you really, really, really do need a hug more than anything else in the world.

I <3 You, Facebook.

Sometimes, the “cranky ones” just need a little patience and an ear. The hospital is a scary place for some. It makes you feel vulnerable. Guards go up. But the right person can bring them back down.

I’m a champion icky cat scan juice drinker. Or so I am gathering from the applause and accolades.

It’s all about outlook and attitude, even when you’re not feeling so great. Best of all, a happy person in a hospital is worth 10 happy people on the street.

The two things you really need to protect first and foremost: your health and your spirit.

  1. Oh goodness! I hope you’re feeling much, much better now! ER visits are not very much fun (although it appears you made the best of a crummy situation). And from experience, that cat scan juice stuff is pretty gross, huh? Yuck!
