Mackenzie Phillips Confesses Painful Secret

I am not too sure if you have read about Mackenzie Phillips and what she has revealed about her deeply inappropriate relationship with her father (be warned, it’s more than a little disturbing) but I wanted to post about it and ask all of you what you think about her sharing this?  There are some who feel she needs to get it out to anyone who will listen and others who say this is something that should be discussed behind the closed doors of a good therapist’s office.

Do you want to know about her lying in bed, discussing the idea as living as man and wife with her own father?

Do you agree with her half-sister Chynna who believes her or with her step-mom, Michelle, who thinks it’s a ploy for attention?

The book, High on Arrival is filled with painful recollections and drug-induced scenarios.  In one chapter, Mackenzie discusses a liason with Mick Jagger who allegedly told her that he had  ”waited for this day since you were 10 years old”.

Yikes!

The bottom line: Few things shock me in our “confess-for-cash” society but I don’t know anyone who doesn’t have their jaw to the floor over this one.

None of this suprises me, especially the stuff involving Jagger, it’s simply did not shock me in the least. However, I could have gotten through the day without reading about it, fortunately I do not watch much tv, that would have been worse, to hear her discuss it. I was initally thinking this was something that occured when she was maybe 11 or 12, but 19? Drugs or not, she concented, disgusting!
